Home Sweet Home.... In the Country....

Hi, everyone! Happy Monday to you all!

I have had the most fun with the stamps from this latest release- they really get my creative juices flowin' and I just keep turning to them time and time again! And today I'm sharing a card where I have combined elements from the Home Sweet Home set with the super cute digi that was available for the Block Partiers over the weekend!

Here's the card:

Ca-ute, right! I was going for a cute little chicken sitting on a fence on the farm! I put my own little twist on the house from Home Sweet Home by transforming it into a funky, colorful barn! Here's a little about how I created it!

First, I stamped the house on a sheet of cardstock. Then, I cut up a few scraps that I have leftover from my Farmhouse Dreamin' kit (still available for single purchase in the Marketplace!! Get yours now! You'll love it!) and got the Mod Podge out for some artsy fun! Does anyone else love using Mod Podge only so you can pick it off your fingers when you're finished? LOL!

I cut the top off of the house to make it more "barn" shaped.

Then I got busy! I added a thin layer of Mod Podge to the house and then started layering little pieces of pattern paper to cover the whole image. I added another layer of Mod Podge over top to seal all the papers together and create a smooth surface.

This part is really important! Don't forget to let your Mod Podge dry! It only takes about 10-15 minutes so you can choose to do something responsible like laundry or dishes, or you can be like me and catch up on your Words With Friends. Very important step, people! When it's dry, trim the scraps around all of the edges of the barn to create straight, clean edges!

To finish it off, I added some other elements from Home Sweet Home! The "barn doors" are actually two of the large WINDOW from the smaller house image! And the "barn window" is another window from the set! So cute! The white outline piece around the top was just hand cut from some scrap cardstock- I needed a little brightness at the top of the "barn" to pull it together.

This "mosaic" technique is a great way to add some brightness to your project AND use up some scraps! And it's SO much fun!

Thanks for stopping by today! See ya soon!

Market Street Stamps BLOCK PARTY!

HI!

It's BLOCK PARTY time again!

While you're waiting on your orders to arrive in the mail- play with some of your older Market Street Stamps and share some inspiration! All you have to do is link up on the Market Street Stamps blog (with any projects using MSS) and YOU could win an awesome prize package OR A GUEST DESIGNER SPOT!

Did I mention that there's a free digi!? YUP! Stop by the Neighborhood and join the Block Party Group to pick up the free digi stamp! You don't even have to have any Market Street Stamps on hand to play!

And this FUNKY CHICKEN is OH SO CUTE! I'll definitely be playing with him this weekend! ;)

So- today I have a little card to share with you!

I am LOVING these new sets, by the way.... I normally try to avoid the new release stamps during the Block Party (it's no fair for you guys!), but I just couldn't help myself.... lol! I love these little houses!

For this one, I started by heat embossing a nice little row of houses with black embossing powder. I carefully cut around the tops of the houses and set them aside. Then, I inked up my Here Comes the Sun background set with three different blue Distress Stains- rubbed the Distress Stains right on the stamp. I stamped it on white cardstock and ended up with this beautiful sun/sky image! LOVE it!

I trimmed the sun/sky to fit nicely behind my row of houses and adhered the houses with foam tape.

I can't seem to get away from green satin ribbon lately so I added some of that, too! HAHA!

Finally, I stamped the super sweet sentiment along the bottom of the card base.

I'm also linking this up over on the Moxie Fab World Blog! This week's Tuesday Trigger is HOME SWEET HOME! Couldn't be more perfect timing! It's also a two-weeker- so get your order in for the new Neighborhood and Home Sweet Home sets so you can play along, too!

I was obviously very inspired by the house! ;)

Make sure you find some time to join our Block Party this weekend! Run over to the MSS blog to check it out! We can't wait to see what you make!

MSS Sneak Peek Day 3: Houndstooth

Are you ready for the very last sneak peek!? It's my new FAVORITE background- I am absolutely in love with the small scale houndstooth pattern- it's PERFECT for card makers and is different than any other houndstooth pattern I've seen out there. The new Houndstooth background stamp was illustrated by Tifany DeGough and trust me- it makes a BIG impact!

Here are the details of the release (all this can be found on the MSS blog, too!)
  • The February release stamps will be "sneaked" on the MSS blog Monday-Wednesday at 7PM Central Time!
  • The full sets will be revealed on Thursday night!
  • Stamps will be available for sale following the reveal Thursday night!
  • The February release stamps will be 15% off in the store for an entire week following the release!! Want all of the sets? If you order the whole release they'll be 25% off for an entire week!! Can't beat that!
And here's what I've made (so far... this bad boy is gonna get a lot of play! HAHA!) with the new Houndstooth background stamp:

I created this very vintage inspired card using the new Houndstooth in two different ink colors as well as the new Neighborhood stamp! I stamped the Houndstooth on the bottom half of a regular A2 sized card using a muse studio Onyx ink. Then, I cut a smaller piece of cardstock and stamped the Houndstooth again using a muse studio Latte ink. I stamped the houses and added some beautiful green ribbon (because I personally think everything is prettier with a bow... lol!). I rounded the corners and adhered the stamped image to the card with foam adhesive. Very simple, very clean, very ME!

On the inside, I masked an area in the center and stamped the house from Neighborhood with Latte ink. Then, I stamped the sentiment over top of the house image with Onyx ink!

Make sure you run over to the Market Street Stamps blog to check out all the other sneak peeks!

Loving all the home inspiration....

MSS Sneak Peek Day 2: Riding By

HELLO!

Today is the second day of sneak peeks from Market Street Stamps!!

There are TWO sets being "sneaked" tonight- I'm sharing a card I made using the set RIDING BY!
Make sure you check out the MSS blog to see the rest of the sneaks and check out the other set-NEIGHBORHOOD! It's super cute!

So- here's what I came up with using the new Riding By set!

How retro cool is that! This is another fun set illustrated by Samantha Casey! I can't stop using it- it's one of my favorites!

I took the new zig-zag stamp (from the Riding By set) and stamped it repeatedly with Versamark ink. Then, I quickly threw some silver embossing powder on it before the ink dried! Ya really have to work fast (I know from experience... lol) or you could simply heat emboss a couple of zig zags at a time (probably a much smarter plan than the one I went with! LOL!)

After heat setting the silver zig zags, I die cut a little section out so the bike could peek through! When stamping the bike directly on the card, I had to remember to mask the right side of the card because I only wanted the bike image to show up inside the cut out section. Yup, that's another one I learned through trial and error! HAHA!

I am IN LOVE with that sentiment, by the way... there are quite a few people I can think of to send this card off to!

Make sure you run over to the Market Street Stamps blog to check out all the other sneak peeks!
And there are lots of ways to WIN these new sets so make sure you check it out!

See ya back here tomorrow with one more sneak!

Here are the details of the release (all this can be found on the MSS blog, too!)

Here's a peek at one of the new sets!

I am so in love with this new set! There are so many amazing neighborhood building elements that you'll find yourself getting lost in the pure creativity of it all!

This set is illustrated by Samantha Casey (she's got 3 sets being released this month!) and I am totally digging her style! Very clean and crisp- perfect for coloring or paper piecing! The girl knows her way around a "scene" and these sets are great for building fabulous scenes!

You see that little puppy in the window! SO cute, right? That's a little peek of a set we'll be showcasing tomorrow- I love how well these sets work together!

I used several elements of the new February Market Fresh Kit- Farmhouse Dreamin' for this card, too! If you haven't checked it out yet- run over and see how you can get your hands on this fabulous kit! There are two kits you can choose from for single purchase (Love Birds and Farmhouse Dreamin'), or you can sign up for a subscription and receive a new kit on your doorstep each month (Farmhouse Dreamin' will be your first kit!)!

These kits are full of beautiful, coordinating supplies- perfect to create a TON of projects!
 The value is amazing!
